Hello! My name is Alicia Wasilowski. I currently have two children attending Nerstrand Elementary School, a daughter Paige, in second grade and a son, Wyatt, now if first grade. My husband and I grew up in Faribault and while we've lived in other cities, we decided to make Faribault our forever home and recently bought a house. I hold a degree in child development and have been teaching preschool for the past five years. It is a career that I truly enjoy!  As a family we enjoy camping, swimming, reading, pajama days, spending time with family and friends, and taking a annual road trip to different states! I love Nerstrand Elementary School and the nurturing environment that it provides to our children while giving them a quality education. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors.

My name is Gretta Kunze, and I am currently in my second year of teaching Kindergarten at Nerstrand Elementary School. Prior to teaching in Nerstrand, I taught Early Childhood for 8 years.  I live in Northfield, but I grew up in the small town of Lyle, MN, so Nerstrand feels like home! I have two brothers and two sisters. Outside of school, I enjoy music and spending time at the lake. I am a 2008 graduate of Crown College. Kindergarten is my passion.  I love watching the children make social and academic connections each day. It is wonderful to be a part of the traditions that make Nerstrand Elementary so special. Thank you for your consideration.

Amber Skluzacek (Secretary/Parent)

Hi! My name is Amber Skluzacek. I am a passionate involved mother of 4 and a resident of rural Nerstrand. I grew up in Montgomery MN and attended the University of Minnesota to attain my bachelor's degree in agricultural education. I currently stay home with our youngest child and own and operate my own photography business.

Three years ago when my children were admitted into Nerstrand Elementary School our lives changed so much! We were now part of a school that not only offers an excellent education, but hands-on, caring, one of a kind experiences for our children. After having our eldest daughter attend a public elementary school for two years, prior to Nerstrand, we truly appreciate all of the great gifts Nerstrand Elementary School provides.

When a spot on the school board opened up I excitedly raised my hand. It is an honor to serve our students, staff and school. I look forward to continuing to help our school maintain its traditions and continue to grow to be its absolute best.

Nicky Schaefer (Staff)

My name is Nicky Schaefer and I started here at Nerstrand in 2015 as a special education paraprofessional. Soon after I started I made the decision to go back to school and get my masters in Special Education so I can become a teacher. I received my bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State in Social Work and my masters from St. Mary's University.

I was born and raised in North Dakota (the accent will show itself every now and then). My family moved to Minnesota when I was going into high school. I have always known I wanted to work with children in some way or another. I am so lucky to have found Nerstrand for my daughter to attend and for me to work at. I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Nerstrand "family".

Skip Voge (Community Member)

My name is Skip Voge (aka Betty) and I have lived in Nerstrand for 22 ½ years. I live across the street from the school ball field with my husband of 53 years. We are blessed to be able to watch the students at this great school as they enjoy their time outside. I started working at Nerstrand School in the fall of 2002 and worked as a classroom para and was the Regal Eagles Coordinator. I retired from the school in 2008. I have also worked as a substitute para at Peace Lutheran PreSchool in Faribault during my retirement and occasionally at Nerstrand during the past few years. I have always said since we have no grandchildren, I have been able to get “my kid fix” by working with all these young people. I love to brag about the quality of education that Nerstrand students receive and this school is such an asset to our community.

I currently live in Northfield, MN with my wife Brooke, my son Rory, and our cat Nile. When I am not teaching I am performing in jazz bands or symphonic bands as a drum set player or percussionist. I also love to play guitar and piano. Other than music, I am an avid Minnesota sports fan and I love to hike and camp. Feel free to stop in the music room to say hello!

Sarah Johnson (Staff)

My name is Sarah Johnson, and I have been teaching here at Nerstrand Elementary School since 2012. I currently live in and was born in Northfield, but I grew up in Wausau, Wisconsin. I have also spent some time living in Colorado, Alaska, and Scotland. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the spring of 2002 with a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I love to spend time outdoors, and that was what initially drew me to Nerstrand. The commitment here to the environment and community service is something very special that I'm glad to be a part of. When I’m not at school, I love to take nature photographs, hike, snowboard, try interesting foods, listen to music, and travel.
