K-1
Prairie
Kindergarten and 1st grade are part of the Prairie group. Because of the developmental needs of both kindergarten and 1st grade, they are self contained classes. Some of the social studies and science units in the Prairie are citizenship, teamwork, animal and plant life cycles, sound and light, and American symbols. Many of our units conclude with special projects and events. After the first graders learn about communities, they create their own cardboard box communities. During the plant unit, students grow their own plants to observe and reinforce their understanding of the life cycle. Join us in our learning and exploring in the Prairie.
2-3
Savannah
2nd and 3rd grade students are in our Savannah multi-age classrooms. They spend most of their day together except for math. 2nd and 3rd grade math are taught separately. Our science and social studies curriculum is on a two year rotation. Some of those units include: the solar system, balance and motion, westward expansion, and state and continent studies. Many of our units conclude with special projects and events. Savannah students create their own inventions for the Invention Convention. After reading Cinderella stories from around the world, students celebrate with our own Cinderella Ball. During the state study, students choose a musher to follow across Alaska in the Iditarod and send a Flat Stanley on an adventure around the US. Come join us for lots of learning and fun in the Savannah.
