About our classrooms

Core classes are grouped as follows: Prairie (Kindergarten & Grade 1); Savannah (Grades 2 & 3); and Woodlands (Grades 4 & 5).

The Prairie Team (Kindergarten & 1st grade) are separate classrooms. They take field trips to River Bend together and share a special Thanksgiving Feast, however they spend most of their days in their grade level classrooms. Savannah and Woodlands students spend the majority of their day in their Core Classes, which are multi-age, with the exception of the graded math block.

Savannah Invention Convention

Tuesday, February 5th was our Savannah Invention Convention. Students displayed their “Something Kits” along the stage and their projects throughout the gym. Students had a choice to either research an inventor, an invention, or invent and create a new item. They were asked to make a display board of what they learned. I was very impressed with all the projects and how they turned out. Nicely done Savannah!

  • Students enjoyed looking at each others projects.

Como Zoo Visits Our Classroom!

On Tuesday, January 22nd the Como Zoo visited our classroom. We used our zoo journals as students traveled to five different stations learning all about the tundra. Students enjoyed learning hands on about animal survival, lowering heart rate to hibernate, and using blubber to keep warm. We will be returning to the Como Zoo Thursday, February 21st to continue our study on the tundra.
