Sarah Johnson, Savannah (2nd & 3rd)
My name is Sarah Johnson, and this is my third year teaching here at Nerstrand Elementary in 2/3 grade. I currently live in and was born in Northfield, but I grew up in Wausau, Wisconsin. I have also spent some time living in Colorado, Alaska, and Scotland. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the spring of 2002 with a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I love to spend time outdoors, and that was what initially drew me to Nerstrand. The commitment here to the environment and community service is something very special that I'm glad to be a part of. When I’m not at school, I love to take nature photographs, hike, snowboard, try interesting foods, listen to music, and travel. Some of my favorite travel destinations have been China, Peru and Ecuador. I would like to go to all seven continents and have 3 more to go! I'm looking forward to a great year with the Savannah students.
Tara Vondrasek, Savannah (2nd & 3rd)
Hello, my name is Tara Vondrasek and this will be my twelfth year teaching Savannah grades 2 and 3 at Nerstrand Elementary School. I received my associate's degree from Waldorf College, my bachelor's degree in elementary education from U of W - River Falls, and earned my master's degree in elementary education from St. Mary's University. I have also taught first grade in Eagan, MN and summer school in Rosemount.
My family and I live in Northfield. My husband Tom and I stay busy with our two sons, Anthony (3 yrs.) and Aiden (4 mo.) We enjoy camping, fishing, gardening, playing volleyball, and of course, snowmobiling. During my free time I also enjoy reading, beading and watching the MN Wild.
Andrew Lubinski, Woodlands (4th & 5th)
I was born and raised in Winona, Minnesota, where I attended the Winona Senior High School. I graduated from Saint Mary’s University in May of 2014, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. While attending Saint Mary’s I was involved with the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, volunteered as a reading tutor, and also managed to work two jobs. Through my involvement with music and the Jazz combo band, I was able to play three concerts in Germany.
I worked at a nursing home In winona for six years as a dietary aide. I also was an assistant teacher at my church’s child care center. I mostly worked with toddlers and preschool kids. I completed my student teaching experience at a small, catholic school in Winona. I like to travel home to visit friends and family on the weekend.
Morgan Welborn, Woodlands (4th & 5th)
My name is Morgan Welborn and I am so excited to join the Nerstrand Elementary School family as a Woodlands teacher! I am so blessed to be able to return home to teach in the school I once attended that gave so much to me as a student. I am looking forward to once again partaking in the many wonderful adventures and traditions. I grew up in Faribault in a family of six. I have three younger brothers, ages 19, 12, and ten, and the youngest, James, will be a 5th grader at Nerstrand this fall. I moved to LaCrosse, WI in 2011 to attend the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and graduated this past May with my degree in Early Childhood through Middle School Education. My favorite hobbies include playing guitar, reading, writing, and taking pictures. One day I hope to publish a children's book. I love spending time outside, going for walks and roller blading. Travelling is also one of my favorite things to do. More than anything else, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends! I can't wait to see what this coming year has in store for us. I have always loved school myself, and can't wait to share that love and passion with your children.

Maggie Kiley, Director
507-333-6854 school • firstname.lastname@example.org
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I can say I am the Director of Nerstrand Elementary School. I have been a part of Nerstrand School since 1997. I previously taught at the Woodlands grade level (4/5). I am also a former parent as both my daughters, Amelia and Alice, are proud graduates of Nerstrand. My connection to this school is personal and profound and I believe very strongly in our mission and our ability to help children to be successful learners and caring people.
My teaching career began in the Faribault School District in 1989. I taught fifth grade at Jefferson Elementary four years and then moved to England. In the UK I taught fifth grade at TASIS, England where I met my husband, Andrew Wykes, who is a professional artist and Professor of Art at Hamline University. We moved back to the States in 1995 and lived in Washington D.C. and then back to Minnesota in 1997, where I began teaching at Nerstrand School. I taught one year at Lincoln Elementary School (4th grade) before returning to Nerstrand to become the Director. I received my BA in Social Work from St. Mary's University, Winona and my teaching license from Macalester College, St. Paul. I have a Masters in Education from Hamline University and am in the process of being licensed as a Reading Interventionist.
Working with children and families has been a rewarding and exciting part of my life. I choose to work at Nerstrand Elementary School because it is a place where children thrive and families are welcome.
